These boards has been redesigned with a blend of surface mount devices & traditional through hole for the SCR’s and are easily replaced if the need ever arises. Designed to used over-rated the SCR’s giving you the peace and mind in regards to reliability.
3 test points (TP1,TP2 and TP3 ) are found to the center of the board for easy testing, with a +5v led showcasing that the board has power. Please note that this board uses the same size and length headers as the original Bally board. Also these are designed to be Anti Flicker!
The led lamp operates on direct current (dc) voltage and is therefore not recommended for alternating current (ac) voltages. In the market, there are multiple manufacturers of led lamps designed for pinball machines, some of which are offered at a lower cost. However, it is important to note that the cheaper led lamps are only compatible with dc voltage, while others are designed for ac voltages. It is strongly advise purchasing ac voltage led lamps for your pinball machine.
This recommendation is due to the fact that dc voltage led lamps when used on ac voltage will strobe at 25 times per second, this phenomenon known as “50 hertz buzz”, which is caused by the frequency of the sine wave being only on the positive side for half of the cycle. Typically, pinball machines utilize ac voltage for the general illumination (GI) lighting. Our lamp driver board and led mod’ boards are intended solely for feature lamps and will not resolve the “buzzing/strobing” problem caused by the cheaper dc voltage only led lamps.
Installation:
- This kit you will find both our standard & Aux lamp driver boards, & 2 x SW iLL bus jumpers.
- The Lamp Driver board has an extra SW iLL buss connection to jump between been the lamp driver & the Aux Lamp Driver boards.
- The longer jumper with alligator clip is to be used on the Left hand SW iLL bus connector on the lamp driver, with the alligator end clipped to the Switch Illumination Common Bus.
- Your new Lamp driver board jumper needs to be connected to the Switched illumination common line pictured below.
